Barricade Pre Emergent Herbicide 5 Litres is a selective pre emergent herbicide designed to stop weeds before they germinate in established turf, garden beds and potted plants. Using the active ingredient Prodiamine at 480 g per litre, Barricade forms a protective barrier in the upper soil profile that prevents the establishment of newly germinated weeds.
This formulation provides long lasting preventative control for up to six months, giving turf managers, landscapers and homeowners a strong seasonal defence against problem weeds such as Crab Grass, Crowsfoot Grass, African Lovegrass, Summer Grass, Parramatta Grass, Ryegrass, Winter Grass, Chickweed, Cudweed, Paspalum and Creeping Oxalis. Barricade works by interfering with cell division in the root tips of weed seedlings, preventing them from establishing.
For best results, apply Barricade before weed emergence. The ideal timing is early spring for summer type weeds and late summer to early autumn for Winter Grass. Because Barricade targets germinating weeds, it will not control existing weeds, so a post emergent herbicide may be required first if weeds are already visible.
Barricade 5 Litres is suitable for multiple turf species including Buffalo Grass, Couch, Kikuyu, Qld Blue Couch, Carpet Grass, Paspalum and Seashore Zoysia, as well as ornamental beds and potted plants. The product is easy to mix using a garden sprayer or watering can, and must be watered in within 24 hours to activate the barrier.
For garden beds, Barricade should be applied directly to the soil surface and washed in before mulch is added. The herbicide binds high in the soil layer, ensuring that established turf roots below the treated zone are not affected. Gently agitate the 5 Litre container before opening
Rotate or rock the container so the prodiamine particles re-suspend evenly before mixing.
Mix correctly using the label method
Add half the water first, add the measured Barricade dose, then top up with the remaining water. Agitate the sprayer or watering can before applying. Mix only enough solution for the day.
Apply before weeds germinate
Barricade controls weeds only at the germination stage. Existing weeds must be removed with a post emergent first.
