Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Pest Control category cover?
Insecticides for garden and turf pests, rodent baits and stations, and snail and slug controls – from ready-to-use home packs to commercial concentrates and bulk bait.

How do I choose a rodent bait?
Match the bait to the situation: wax blocks for damp or outdoor use, grain baits for dry roof and wall cavities. Always use bait in a locked station to keep it away from children, pets and non-target animals, and remove dead rodents promptly.

Are snail and slug baits safe around pets?
Iron-based (ferric phosphate) baits are far lower risk to dogs and wildlife than the older metaldehyde types. Even so, apply thinly as directed, do not leave heaps of bait, and store the container out of reach.

What is the difference between a knockdown and a residual product?
A knockdown kills the pests present when you spray and breaks down quickly. A residual product leaves an active deposit on the surface that keeps working for weeks, so pests are controlled as they arrive. Many perimeter and lawn products are residual.

How often should I re-treat?
It depends on the product residual life and the pest life cycle. Re-treat when you see fresh activity, when the label protection period ends, or after heavy rain washes off a surface spray. Rotating between different actives slows resistance.
