Tips for Use

Shake well before opening
Barricade must be shaken thoroughly so the active constituent disperses evenly before mixing.

Mix correctly for the application area
Add half the water first, add the measured Barricade dose, then top up with the remaining water. Agitate before use.
Only mix enough solution for the area being treated and for the same day of application.

Apply before weed germination
Barricade controls weeds only at the germination stage. Existing weeds will need a post emergent first.

Choose the right timing for the season
Use in early spring for summer weeds, and from late summer to early autumn for Winter Grass. This gives the barrier maximum effectiveness.

Measure your lawn or garden area first
This ensures the correct amount of mixture is prepared and prevents under application or over application.

Apply evenly across the entire surface
Spray or pour the mixture evenly to create a consistent layer in the upper soil profile. This is critical for proper barrier formation.

Lightly water in after application
Water the area within 24 hours to activate the herbicide and move it into the top layer of the soil.
Avoid watering to runoff for the first three days.

Do not apply to stressed or newly planted turf
Wait until turf is fully established with a developed root system at least 3 cm deep before applying.

Do not apply over mulch
For garden beds, apply to the soil surface and wash in before mulch is added.

Allow spray to dry before re entry
Do not allow people or pets to enter treated areas until the application has dried completely.

Wash equipment after use
Rinse sprayers, nozzles and watering cans thoroughly to prevent residue buildup.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a selective and a non-selective herbicide?

A selective herbicide kills target weeds while leaving desirable plants unharmed - for example, a lawn-safe product that removes bindii and clover from buffalo or couch without damaging the turf. A non-selective herbicide such as glyphosate kills almost any green plant it contacts, so it is used for driveways, fence lines, garden-bed prep and total vegetation control, never on lawns.

What is a pre-emergent herbicide and when do I apply it?

A pre-emergent creates a barrier in the top layer of soil that stops weed seeds from establishing as they germinate. It does not control weeds that are already growing. Apply it before the target weed germinates - late summer to early autumn for winter grass, and early spring for summer grasses like crabgrass and crowsfoot - then water it in.

Will herbicide damage my lawn?

Only if you use the wrong type. Non-selective herbicides (glyphosate) will kill or badly damage turf. Selective lawn herbicides are formulated to be safe on common Australian turf at label rates, but tolerance varies by grass - buffalo is the most sensitive - so always check the label lists your turf type before spraying.
