Product Description

FIVESTAR Insecticide is a 1 L pack of an 80 g/L bifenthrin suspension concentrate (APVMA 59452). The label lists spiders, paper nest wasps, ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, fleas and flies in and around buildings (excluding the paralysis tick), subterranean termites, mites, aphids, caterpillars, mealybug and thrips on roses and ornamentals, pests of turf such as lawn armyworm and African black beetle, and pests of apples and pears.

Termites. The label has separate rates for termite barriers, poles and posts and nest treatment, and says service requirements are set by at least an annual inspection by a licensed pest control operator. Termite work should be done by a licensed technician. The label says not to use it in pre-construction situations or in cavity walls (except certified cavity wall systems or direct nest treatment), and not to apply it to very wet soil or straight after heavy rain.

Where not to use it. The label does not list vegetables. Do not graze treated turf or feed clippings from treated turf to poultry or livestock. For pears, do not apply later than 14 days before harvest.

Bees, fish and re-entry. Dangerous to bees: do not spray plants in flower when bees are foraging, and spray at night or early morning. Dangerous to fish and aquatic organisms: do not contaminate dams, rivers, streams, waterways or drains with the product or used containers. After treating buildings, let the area dry completely (normally 3 to 4 hours) and ventilate before people go back in.

How to use it. Rates depend on the pest and the situation, for example spiders outside buildings are 30 to 65 mL per 10 L of water. Read the full label before mixing (the Application Rates tab is a summary).

Before you buy. The label says it is poisonous if swallowed and will irritate the eyes. For termite mixes it asks for cotton overalls, a washable hat, gloves and a half face-piece respirator. If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.

Application Rates

Spiders: Use 30–65mL per 10L of water for external areas and surroundings of homes, businesses, public spaces, and industrial buildings.

Papernest Wasps: Use 65mL per 10L of water for external areas and surroundings of homes, businesses, public spaces, and industrial buildings.

Ants (excluding Red Imported Fire Ants), Cockroaches, Mosquitoes, Fleas, Flies, Ticks (excluding paralysis ticks): Use 65–125mL per 10L of water.

Subterranean Termites: Follow the detailed instructions in the “Directions for Use” section on the label for specific rates and application guidelines.

Ornamental Plants: Use 25–100mL per 100L of water.

Turf: Use 15–60mL per 100m², with at least 2L of water per 100m². Irrigate after application.

Apples, Bananas, and Pears: Use 10–250mL per 100L of water.

How to Use Fivestar

Mixing: Dilute Fivestar with water and stir well.
Spraying: Use ground sprayers for even coverage. Avoid fogging or misting.
Coverage for Turf: Apply at least 200L of spray per hectare for thorough results.

Before Spraying

Remove pets and animals from the area.
Cover food, water bowls, fishponds, and aquariums.
Avoid spraying flowering plants when bees are active.

After Spraying

Let treated areas dry completely (3–4 hours) before re-entering.
If early re-entry is needed, wear protective clothing like gloves, boots, and overalls.

Important Precautions

Do not spray on waterlogged soil or right after heavy rain.
Avoid spraying inside walls unless using certified systems.
Do not use for pre-construction treatments.

Storage and Safety Tips
