Gently agitate the 5 Litre container before opening
Rotate or rock the container so the prodiamine particles re-suspend evenly before mixing.
Mix correctly using the label method
Add half the water first, add the measured Barricade dose, then top up with the remaining water. Agitate the sprayer or watering can before applying. Mix only enough solution for the day.
Apply before weeds germinate
Barricade controls weeds only at the germination stage. Existing weeds must be removed with a post emergent first.
Use the correct seasonal timing
Apply in early spring for summer type weeds.
Apply in late summer to early autumn for Winter Grass.
Measure the treatment area before mixing
Ensures the correct amount of product is applied evenly across lawns, garden beds or pots.
Apply evenly across the entire surface
Spray or pour the mixture evenly to form a consistent barrier in the upper soil layer.
Water in correctly
Lightly water in within 24 hours of application.
Do not irrigate to the point of runoff for three days after applying.
Do not apply to new or stressed turf
Only apply to well established turf with a developed root system deeper than 3 centimetres.
Do not apply over mulch
For garden beds, apply directly to the soil surface and wash in before mulching.
Allow treated areas to dry before entry
Do not enter the area until the spray has fully dried.
Clean equipment thoroughly after use
Rinse sprayers, nozzles and watering cans with clean water to avoid residue buildup.
Prodiamine 480 g per litre
480 g/L prodiamine, a Group D herbicide.
No — it only works at the germination stage, forming a barrier that stops weed seedlings establishing. Existing weeds need to be removed with a post-emergent herbicide first.
It’s registered for established buffalo, couch, kikuyu, paspalum, zoysia, carpet and seashore grass turf, controlling weeds like summer grass, crab grass, winter grass, crowsfoot grass and paspalum. A separate range of weeds is controlled in garden beds and potted plants.
No. The label directs against use on newly seeded, newly laid or sprigged turf, or in vegetable gardens or around fruit trees and sensitive plants.
Up to six months in established turf and garden beds under mulch, or up to four months in potted plants.

A selective herbicide kills target weeds while leaving desirable plants unharmed - for example, a lawn-safe product that removes bindii and clover from buffalo or couch without damaging the turf. A non-selective herbicide such as glyphosate kills almost any green plant it contacts, so it is used for driveways, fence lines, garden-bed prep and total vegetation control, never on lawns.
A pre-emergent creates a barrier in the top layer of soil that stops weed seeds from establishing as they germinate. It does not control weeds that are already growing. Apply it before the target weed germinates - late summer to early autumn for winter grass, and early spring for summer grasses like crabgrass and crowsfoot - then water it in.
Only if you use the wrong type. Non-selective herbicides (glyphosate) will kill or badly damage turf. Selective lawn herbicides are formulated to be safe on common Australian turf at label rates, but tolerance varies by grass - buffalo is the most sensitive - so always check the label lists your turf type before spraying.
