Tips for use

Tips for Using Monument Liquid Herbicide

Effective Application Timing and Methods:

Long-Lasting Results: Monument Liquid provides extended weed control, minimizing the need for repeated applications (except for kikuyu control).

Best Timing:

Kikuyu Suppression: Apply in late March and repeat in late April.
Poa Annua & Ryegrass Control: Apply when weeds are actively growing, not at the end of their growth cycle. Active growth ensures the herbicide moves effectively through the plant.
Systemic Action: The herbicide is absorbed through leaves, shoots, and roots for complete control. Ensure thorough coverage of leaves and shoots during application.
Root Uptake: If the product washes into the soil, it enhances root absorption for systemic action.

Key Ingredients:
Monument Liquid contains 100 g/L trifloxysulfuron-sodium, a Group B sulfonylurea herbicide.

Application Restrictions:

Equipment and Conditions:
Avoid aerial or irrigation equipment application.
Use coarse spray droplets and keep nozzles no higher than 50 cm above the ground.
Apply only when wind speeds are 3–10 km/h.

Turf and Environment:
Do not apply to turf under stress, newly seeded areas, or species not listed for safe use.
Avoid golf course putting greens and areas near sensitive vegetation or water bodies.

Maintain specific distances:
10 m from bentgrass greens.
20 m from aquatic areas.
60 m from sensitive vegetation or crops.

Safety Guidelines:
First Aid: In case of poisoning, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre at 131 126 (Australia).

Additional Information: Refer to the product’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed safety instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a licence to buy or use these?

Most products here are unrestricted and can be bought and used by anyone following the label. A few are restricted chemical products that need a chemical user permit in some states - those are flagged on the product page. If in doubt, check the poison schedule on the label.

How do I work out the mixing rate?

The label gives a rate either per 100 L of water (a concentration) or per hectare or per 100 square metres (an area rate). For a knapsack, work out the area one tank will cover, then scale the per-area rate to that tank volume. Calibrate the sprayer before you start.

Why do the same chemicals come under different brand names?

Once an active ingredient comes off patent, several companies register their own version. A generic glyphosate 360 and a big-brand glyphosate 360 are the same active at the same strength - the difference is formulation quality, surfactant load and price.
